Kristiania University of Applied Sciences

Kristiania University of Applied Sciences is among Norway’s oldest private higher education institutions, founded by Ernst G. Mortensen in 1914 as Norway’s first correspondence school, «Norsk Korrespondanseskole» (NKS). In its first year, NKS served 125 students; after 15 years, enrollment grew to 9,000, and during World War II, it exceeded 50,000 students. By 2022, Kristiania had over 16,000 students and 689 staff members.

In 2017, it merged with Westerdals Oslo ACT, and from September 2019, The Norwegian College of Musical Theatre and The Norwegian University College of Dance also joined Kristiania.
In 2024, we marked 110 years of providing higher education.

Kristiania offers over 50 bachelor’s programs, 14 master’s programs, and 2 doctoral programs. We also provide a variety of shorter courses and programs, available both on campus and online, along with several vocational college options.
